Redmi K40 Ultra set to do battle with the OnePlus Nord 2 thanks to a MediaTek Dimensity 1200

Xiaomi released the Redmi K30 Ultra back in August last year and is now set to follow it up with a direct natural successor, the Redmi K40 Ultra. Initial details of the Redmi K40 Ultra have now surfaced, painting an interesting image of what to expect from Xiaomi's next sub-premium phone.

According to the source, the Redmi K40 Ultra will debut with a MediaTek Dimensity 1200. That's the same chipset that's expected to power the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2. That device is tipped to launch later this month, and comparisons with the Redmi K40 Ultra are expected to plaster the front pages of tech media houses.

There's not much else known about the Redmi K40 Ultra, but sources claim it will sport a 120 Hz AMOLED. That's logical, of course, seeing as the Redmi K30 Ultra already offered such hardware. The main shooter is expected to be a 64 MP camera and should be joined by an ultra-wide-angle lens. Under the hood is tipped to be a 5000 mAh battery, with 67 W charging to keep charge times down.

The Redmi K40 Ultra is expected to be unveiled in August. If its predecessor is any indication, it may be exclusive to China. That's unlikely to prevent OnePlus Nord 2 comparisons, however.
